9 March 2025 Prayer for the Pastor, Deacon, Chaplain

Dear Faithful God, it is tempting to follow the shiniest object, the most salient argument, the most deeply felt feeling in my being. But it is always you. You are the one to follow, the one who is faithful, the one who loves me fully. Help me remember that even if I don’t feel like preaching today. Or just showing up. That sometimes it feels like work, especially anticipating all of it. So encourage me. Kick me in the butt. Get me out the door and into the paths of your people so I can proclaim your love and faithfulness. 

I pray for my CGP colleagues and all those in the ELCA no matter where they serve. For those in between or discerning the in between. For those just beginning and the ones who are contemplating and planning for retirement. Stir up our faith. Spark our love for you anew today. 

You are love to those who are closest to me, God. Help us to love each other well. Help me to live out of my love for you and not take out the stresses of ministry on those who only want what’s best for me. I’m so glad to have such love in my life. Thank you, God. Amen.

Take big, generous, deep breaths, dear Chaplain, dear Deacon, Dear Pastor. And remember, in all that you do, God is with you.
