14 July 2024 Sunday Prayer

Sunday Prayer for the Chaplain + Deacon + Pastor

God of Mercy,

Things are heavy – the world seems so – I mean TOO heavy. You know this, God. I know you do. I know nothing changes with us, it seems. It’s always a mess. Would you please help me today to not add to all the heavy things but to point to your mercy instead? That your love and mercy and grace – YOU – make all things whole. So right here, right now, I know you are God and you can do all things. You can even make me whole. So even if it’s temporary, bring me your peace. Fill me with your good news so that I remember that it is for me. It’s not just for my parishioners. It’s not just for other people but for me. And then suddenly, I feel lighter. My gripping, grasping hands are loosening. And I remember to trust in you. To put my faith in you because you simply do not give up on me. Even when things seem unbearable and relentless. Even when my heart seems to have given up. You just don’t give up on me. Wow. Thank you.

So help me. Love my people. The ones I am called to love and serve. The ones who are closest to me. Remind me that it’s not all for nothing. That it’s for the sake of love. That it’s all about love. You love for me and everyone. Amen

Take a deep breath, dear deacon, dear pastor, dear chaplain. For your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Don’t be afraid. God is with you.
